An El Paso paraglider barely avoided death when his motorized paraglider fell nearly one hundred feet out of the sky.  The good news, as a YouTube personality, is that he got the entire thing on his camera phone.

Anthony Villa is from El Paso and has a big following on YouTube because of his many paragliding (actually, para-motoring, more on that later) videos that he shares. Anthony’s YouTube account has over 24 thousand followers but he’s bound to get many more than that. This most recent video has gone mega-viral because it shows a near-death experience followed by some of the most harrowing pain you’ll ever see. Viewer discretion IS advised.

After falling from the height of a ten-story building, Vella is heard screaming in pain and trying to get his Siri to call 911. The good news: he’s had multiple surgeries, is expected to recover, and seems to be doing well. Let’s check in with Anthony Vella’s most recent YouTube video…from his hospital bed…where he gives us his update.

There’s still some confusion over where exactly this accident happened. The International media, including the London Daily Mail, says it was at Enchanted Rock State Park near Austin. But, there’s an area in West El Paso called Enchanted Hills, and, from the video, that looks like where he was.

It was at the same park that another motorized paraglider died in an accident almost exactly one year ago. Lee Boone, known as “The Guy in the Sky” died of his injuries. In this video, notice who they interview about the accident. It’s Anthony Vella, who would have his horrible crash at the same place, during the same month a year later.

Maybe it’s just too windy to motor-glide in El Paso in April?
